Research Lab of Advanced, Composite, Nano Materials & Nanotechnology
(NTUA)
Research Lab of Advanced, Composite, Nano Materials & Nanotechnology
The Research Lab of Advanced, Composite, Nano Materials & Nanotechnology (R-Nano) at NTUA focuses on designing, producing, and characterizing advanced materials. Founded in 2007, its multidisciplinary team specializes in nanotechnology research, including carbon nanotubes, anticorrosive coatings, ceramics, and 3D printing, with expertise spanning sustainability, safety, and advanced material engineering.
Main activities and roles in AlchemiSSts
NTUA will lead WP1 and coordinate activities to define indicators aligned with specific safe and sustainability criteria under the SSbD framework. This includes determining expected outcomes concerning scalability, cost efficiency, and performance. NTUA will also lead the development of case study scopes and boundaries while analyzing technical functions, identifying barriers to manufacturing or substitution, and proposing mitigation strategies. In WP4, NTUA will focus on the screening, development, lab-scale validation, and optimization of phthalate-free plasticizers for PVC, particularly for applications in sports mats and rubber boots. Additionally, NTUA will support WP5, contributing to it as WP1 leader and materials developer. In WP6, NTUA will assist in identifying hazard data gaps, developing QSAR models and classification tools for hazard analysis, and conducting comprehensive occupational health assessments.
