WORK PACKAGES

  • WP1 will work on the definition of indicators for the specific safe and sustainability criteria lay down in the SSbD framework, the definition of expected outcomes in terms of scalability, costs and performance, and the coordination of the definition of the scope and boundaries of case studies.

  • WP2 will work on the development of SSbD driven surfactants (SFs) for targeted applications (paints and lubricants).

  • WP3 will work on the development of SSbD driven flame retardants (FRs) for targeted applications (safety boots, insulators foams and battery cases).

  • WP4 works on the development of SSbD driven plasticizers (PCs) for targeted applications (sports mats and rubber boots).

  • The main goal of WP 5 is to identify potential challenges faced by the industry to implement SSbD criteria in realistic scenarios, provide recommendations considering the whole product value chain and the strategic vision of the industry, define a SSbD-based product passport for sharing essential products' safety and sustainability information and outline a certification scheme.

  • The main goal of WP6 is to conduct an exhaustive and iterative safety assessment of targeted products and applications, analysing hazards (intrinsic properties), health and safety aspects in the production and processing phase, and human health and safety aspects in the final application phase, as stablished by the SSbD framework (steps 1 to 3).

  • The main goal of WP7 is to deliver a ‘proof of concept’ of Steps 4 and 5 of the EC SSbD frameworks through their application to the project’s case studies.

  • WP8 involves the development of an interoperable FAIR Data Hub for data sharing and management, the creation and implementation of FAIR workflows, and the enhancement of skills for data FAIRification.

  • WP 9 focuses on delivering effective communication, dissemination, stakeholder engagement, and exploitation strategies to maximize awareness, understanding, and action among all identified stakeholders, with a particular emphasis on maximizing impact through strategic communication to promote project goals and achievements, disseminating results to drive widespread industry and academic adoption, developing commercialization strategies for market uptake and intellectual property management, and fostering networking and collaboration to build alliances with initiatives and standardization efforts for Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) alternatives in substances and materials.

  • WP 10 focuses on strategically coordinating and organizing the project, ensuring effective follow-up through progress control and planning, providing continuous updates on project status to commission officers, implementing risk management strategies, and maintaining efficient and sustainable grant management with optimized resource utilization and decision-making procedures.
